Funeral plans in Cyprus
Law & Regulations:
Expatriates need to be aware there are no Laws or Regulations pertaining to funeral, the service or the funeral directors conduct. Therefore, an individual could set up a business as an undertaker with simply a phone and hire the necessary items needed.
This is a dangerous situation. There is a substantial difference between a Funeral ‘Agent’ and qualified Funeral Director.
Therefore when selecting a Funeral Director to carry out the arrangements for loved ones you should be careful and inspect the premises before allowing the Funeral Director to proceed.
The only way an expatriate resident in Cyprus can be guaranteed a dignified funeral according to their wishes is by legally pre-arranging with Avalon
Avalon has three international plans for you to choose from:
Britannia: A repatriation service covering many legal formalities, preparation in the country of death and the burial / cremation in a chosen second country.
The Kings Plan: A local Burial according to Cypriot tradition, including 7 days in the mortuary allowing for family participation.
The Windsor Way: A funeral similar in content to that which you would expect in the UK, allowing 4 days for family participation especially if based in a different country, suitable for couples and families. This is our Popular Plan for most members.
